Yes, you read it right.
If you have grievances with the current system i.e. the state of Andhra Pradesh. Fine, it is natural that you request the separation. Now, on what basis is this request being made? There might be a mis-allocation of water resources to Telanga probably, I am not an expert. But what were the 110 or so MLAs elected from this region doing until today. The water decisions did not happen today. In fact very little of the water allocation decisions were made in the recent decade! For 50 years the people and their representatives were silent about this and now suddenly you remember that Telangana does not get water. Please folks give me a break. The entire Telangana movement is clearly motivated with tthe objective of ensuring that the money from the cash cow that is Hyderabad stays within the Telangana and not distributes across AP. So, any discussion of Telanga without discussing what will happen to Hyderbad is meaningless. Also, to say it is in Telangana so we will get it is bullshit!
Lets discuss an example. Two friends pool in their resources (land and money). So, they build the factory in one person's land because it is barren and suits factory while the other person`s land is suitable for agriculture. The factory is run with money from the agricultural land in its initial days. so, the entire capital from the agriculture went into the development of the factory until it got stabilised. Now, after the factory starts making money (which is many order of times generated by agriculture on the fertile land), if the friend (on whose land the factory is built) claims the factory is in my land, so its all mine tell me how should the other guy respond. This is exactly how Telangana agitators are behaving. After all the investments made in Hyderabad (using AP state money) have succeeded (airport, IT industires, pharmacy industries, roads to name a few) the people of Telangana want a separate state. Sure, you can have it .. if you pay up for all the loss to rest of the state for taking away the city that was bult using money from the whole of AP. It is not enough to allow us (so merciful!) to use Hyderbad until we develop a state capital. There needs to be a payment of the opportunity cost for remainder of the state (AP-Telangana). Because, if we were aware that you will take away Telangana (at your whim and fancy!), we would have invested money on other cities in AP instead of putting all our money in Hyderabad (which we did thinking we were all one). So, until a equivalent payment to cover the loss for the rest of the state is not suggested there is no reason why the rest of AP should let go of Hyderabad. It is as simple as that. The amount should also include inflation and increase in investments made at the same rate as the growth of Hyderbad.
In fact, if Hyderabad was the capital of Telangana as oppossed to AP its current situation would have been different.
This is talking in purely monetary terms, neglecting the so many hudreds of thousands of people from rest of AP who have made Telangana their home. These people invested their mind and captial in devveloping Hyderabad into what it is now. How can this be ignored!
Anyway.. as KCR and Kodandaram run this stupid circus I am forced to watch it in pain!

heck this and I hope you'll understand why Telangana movement is going on

......and this is not something that is being demanded now after Hyd was developed(??) but has been going on repeatedly for the past 50-60 yrs.......please write when you have researched and read the issue indepth...fyi I'm not from AP but have settled in Hyd.
For your information, I am aware of the separate Telangana and Separate Andhra movements of the 70s. AP has put those movements behind and moved as one state. The reason for the last Telangana movement versus this telangana movement are entirely different. What we have today is a politically motivated movement. And gullible people are bing pulled into this for no reason. If you have settled in Hyderabad and believe what KCR and Kodanda Ram say why they are fighting for Telanagana I can only say good luck!
It might look like that from Montreal...the people who blocked the Telangana movements are the same....I believe in Prof. Jayashankar and all right and just causes....its in my core belief that the divide between the haves and have nots should be narrowed so that there is peace all over...my 2 cents.
Tell me how forming Telangana will improve the lot of the have nots. Romanticizing that a case is just does not ensure havenots will become better. Remember erstwhile russia. Even there people wanted to elininate inequality. Telabgana formation will only create mibimal opportunities to people from telangana. If you think governmwnt jobs will solve their problems it is just not goibg to happen. To be honest i dont have an issue with creating Telangana. My problem is the idiotic yone of how Hyderabad is their birth right. Go ahead split AP but make Hyd a union territory. Did you hear what KCR talks of. He will kick out all the AP people to where they came. ... Anyway.. Until the issue of Hyd nothing should be done.
Dont even get me started on the fact that me being in montreal bars me from seeing things correctly. I have family in hyd and they do talk abt the issues.
Gandhiji while advocating complete Independence from British rule said "I am convinced that the time has come for the British and the Indians to be reconciled to complete separation from each other. Complete and immediate orderly withdrawal of the British from India [...] will at once put the Allied cause on a completely moral basis. [...] I ask every Briton to support me in my appeal to the British at this hour to retire from every Asiatic and African possession. ... I ask for a bloodless end of an unnatural domination and for a new era. Leave India to God and if that be too much, leave her to anarchy, necessity for withdrawal lies in its being immediate"...these are the sentiments shared by the Telangana folks that I get to interact here(the British=Andhrites).....anyways this is your Blog...your views.....I quit...God bless you!!!
Hitler while advocating his Nazi propaganda brainwashed Germans into thinking that the Jewish people were the root of all evil. He brainwashed people into believing and agreeing to committing unspeakable crimes. I see this movement analogous to that, on a far lesser scale. It is easy to blame others for your difficulties. It is far tougher to actually sit down and solve those problems. Every Indian has equal opportunities to prove his/her worth in today's private dominated economy. If you work hard, you will make it. I am not saying people from Telangana are lazy. They are hard-working and they HAVE made it to the top levels. It is true that rich people exploit poor people, it is a plain lie to say all Andhra people exploit Telangana. They are simply ordinary people making a living wherever they can find it.
India has a culture of limiting opportunities for the "privileged" and promoting undeserving people. It is possible to uplift the under-privileged without destroying the others. However, we adopt the lazy approach. We are just bandaging the wounds without treating the underlying disease.
All the separation has ever done is take away opportunities and hope of progress from an otherwise progressive people. Selfishness, insecurity and inferiority complex have achieved victory over honesty. If you still support the current state of affairs, you are a hypocrite and a racist like the politicians you voted for.
