Federer

Well, time has come on a great player. Roger Federer retires with 20 grand slam trophies - an unimaginable number. Yet, he is third on the list. That's the problem with pushing frontiers, once you show it can be done, others will do it better.  Good on them.

As a Federer fanatic fan, I would like to thank him for the wonderful memories. I still remember the night out for his 5th Wimbledon final - he won that. After 2009 or so my life got in the way but until then I think I watched all his grand slam finals. I could not get myself to watch his recent games because he lost a step and was not playing at his best. I could not watch the genius struggle on a mortal plane. That's a testament to the standards he set himself!

Hope he has a great retired life! You and your family deserve it! Thanks for the single handed backhand and the several magical memories.

PS: Federer was also helpful in bringing me closer to my wife - I will owe him forever for that. I have an admission to make - I was ok with Federer losing the 2008 Wimbledon Final provided I got an Yes. Usually, I pleaded for his victory! Sorry Fed!
