Awesome ain't it?

Leo fortune
"It's a challenging day, but if you let the surprises take you where they will, then things will be a lot more manageable. Keep in mind that your energy is running very hot now, so you could offend others with your special kind of in-your-face negotiating. The may seem that if you don't push hard, you'll miss an opportunity. This is just an illusion; solve the problem without taking on the world."

My Schedule

My schedule is again showing signs of returning to my old days where I stay up all night. The problem however has been I am getting up early. This is a problem I need to address. Sleep late and get up late will work or sleep early and get up early. But I will prefer the former with the summer heat. Let see! There is no substitute to work in the peace of the night. Its enjoyable and refreshing!

I am scared

Sometimes it is really scary. I feel I am so odd. I don't like the way people do so many things, is it the things or the people themselves. I will never know.

Anyway, have to get some work done!!

Is this coincidence

Is this a coincidence that Gilrchrist happens to be Today's featured article on World Cup especially with his innings!!

Hmmm

just when you think things are going on fine, it is disturbed. Let see

Been a long day

Yes, it has been a long day. I have listened yet again to the long lectures. I made a mistake I think. As always I try to tell him it was not intentional. He still thinks I do it because I don't want to obey him. May be today it felt like he is changing. may be not. Anyway, I have made changes now, hopefully we will reach convergence faster now!!

Nice

way to snub the stupid government

hmmm

a nice article about obsessive fear of the people in this country. But, even when such things happen, do you really have to stay here?

Have to accept this

Unless proved otherwise, cant help but agree with Murali on The issue of Saurav Ganguly.

This is what you live for

Family and friends of Dr.Loganthan grieve and point out how he influenced so many lives.

Why?

I mean BC Lara walks out to bat, the entire English team forms a guard of honor. But nothing similar to that happens from the WI team. Why? Did he loose the respect of his teammates that badly. We will never know!

Sometimes

You realize it is not that your adviser does not understand. He is like that. For him, mistakes are not acceptable especially if you repeat them!
Well lets see!!

Brian Charles Lara

A great batsman. Very few people achieve the record for the highest individual score in test cricket in their careers. But, only a rare batsman achieves it not once but twice in in his career. That is Brian Charles Lara for you. A man who enjoys the big scene, plays much better when needed for the team. His 153 to win a match against Australia is rated 2nd (yes second, above many other higher scores) in the Wisden greatest innings. To put it in perspective, the other contemporary who scored more international run than him, with more international centuries has "0". Well, i think you would have guessed who the contemporary is.
I always enjoyed watching Lara play. He was an entertainer. I very vividly remember a small passage of play against Pakistan. Wasin Akram just got a wicket of the fifth ball of the first over of a ODI. Lara walks in at 3. He faces his fist ball. It was close to his hips and slightly leg-sided. He just flicks the ball with his bat. It was done so gently I thought he was playing a defensive shot. But when I saw the ball sail into the deep square leg boundary I was awed and realized why people die to watch him. Well, fortunately for India, he never scored many runs. So, i haven't watched much against India. But I did watch some of his great innings. It was a pleasure watching him bat with carefree abandon and for that you deserve a Thank You. Thanks for the entertainment.

Thats a pure genius

"This comes from Adam Gilchrist in The Australian a couple of seasons ago. "Mistake," hissed Lara. Next ball Lara lofted to midwicket for six. Gilchrist taunted Lara to take on the two men behind point instead. Lara strung it between them for four. Next ball was straighter, Lara backed away and strung it through again. Best remain silent now, Gilchrist then decided. This was to demonstrate precision of his skill. But I particularly liked "mistake". 'You don't know what I can do?' was the strut. That is the Lara motif."

Wanted to take it easy

I wanted to run slowly and see if I feel like I can run longer. I wanted to see how I feel if I run a little slower. Well, I started slowly was feeling really nice for a long time and then when I saw the time I realized in spite of my slow start i can make in my regular time, so started rushing towards the end. Well, I was tired by the time I reached and more importantly failed to see if I can run longer if I run a little slower.

May be the next week I will try to see!

Something is wrong

There is a difference between arguing about a particular idea and the person itself. I can see that. If its the case there is something really wrong!

Another argument

This time it is about a very sensitive topic.
Yes, death of a person. An Indian girl died in the Virginia Tech shooting. I feel very sorry for her. But the way people sensationalize because she was killed in a particular manner is not right. People write scraps. I don't understand it. A person who is dead is missed by the family members and the ones close to her. It is they that will miss here, not everybody in the world who write scraps because they have an orkut profile and an orkut link to write. Especially, the fact that people knew about her after death is what makes it so sad. They never knew her as a live person!

If I die, I would like people to express sorrow because they knew me or I was responsible for something for them or may be some other way I affected their life, not because some psychopath killed me! I don't know if you can see the reason why I complain so much about mourning. You mourn about people who affected your life in one way or the other, not because of the media attention. By mourning about people you will forget soon you are trivializing death. I know people will argue with me about this and wont agree but there is a lack of humanness in trying to be one among the millions in showing affection for a person you do not know when she is alive. If you know a person after death, how and what are you mourning for is my question?

I will put it in a different way. There are thousands of people dying. for instance on the same day the 33 people were killed in Vtech, 180 people died in Baghdad. How much coverage does that news get in the media. Aren't those people who died of no value. By according so much importance to one side of the story you are devaluing life. Further, people mourn for the death of some because their addresses are accessible. She has an orkut profile, so write a scrap. What are you achieving by that? feeling good that you have sent a condolence message! It is all for your feel good? Isn't it? what are you doing to send condolences to thousands of people who are dying. Don't tell me I at least cared for one person. Writing a scrap is not caring and don't even dream that it is!

I don't want people to die, but when it happens please do not sensationalize it. It demeans the value of life! Imagine the death of a person in road accident. People feel, well it happens everyday. But, for the family how will the reason of death matter. Either he died because a psychopath killed or because he had a road accident its all the same. The person is no more. But for us, (media and many people) we don't care about an accident, because it happens everyday. But when a psychopath kills all your affection and sorrow is out. Isn't that an inconsistency in itself? This inconsistency is what I wanted to point out.

If you agree with me fine else I am entitled to my opinion!

How ridiculous is this

the arguments and counter arguments start against possession of guns

Wednesday, April 18, 2007

Will this help?

Is leaving scraps on a dead girl's page way of expressing condolences. May be, I dont know about that. When I visited the page it makes you feel sad and depressed. May be if we leave the profile with existing scraps and dont touch it might be better!

Don't know, i am not sure. But I wont scrap!
I hope she had a happy life!!

Racism?

A very nice article by Sumit Dahiya regarding the Don Imus controversy

Graceful ? any takers

At least Michael Vaughan was graceful to admit it
"It's a horrible feeling to have walked off the field and get booed by a lot of England supporters, but rightfully so from the performance we put in," he said. "I've been a supporter in a stadium, watched football teams that haven't produced, and done exactly the same. I fully understand why they have given us that kind of reception."

Why cant the Indian team understand (or rather accept) this? or may be they were not as bad as England. Oh wait a minute! England finished better than us, they at least qualified for the super 8's.

Anyway, life moves on.

Feels so good

Run a couple of miles in the nice surroundings of Hyde Park and sit on your balcony without wearing a shirt, the feeling of bathing in the pleasant breeze is so good. Well, wont be in this apartment for long. so, I better enjoy to the fullest.

Weapons

Weapons are so easily accessible to permanent residents in some states of the US. I really don't understand why everybody needs weapons. I am a staunch supporter of individual freedom but if the individual freedom can cause a lot of damage when misused it is necessary to exercise control. If guns were not so easily accessible in Virginia, the mass murder would not have occurred. Criminals might get the guns anyway, but that is not a good enough reason to sell guns and create criminals!

45 minutes

It took a 45 minute long shower to bring me back to normal and I am not sure if I am normal yet!

Difficult !!

Some things are really difficult to understand. Some people even more. Don't know what to do.

Another interesting prediction

"Your life is fulfilling now and you want to share it with someone. The good news is that there are opportunities for romance or companionship, but you must create the magic yourself. Find the courage to seize the moment and make something happen. Otherwise, your little adventure will take place only within the realms of your imagination."

Well, i wish i could be as optimistic :P

World Cup

I felt Sri Lanka's move to rest vaas and murali was tactical, clever and more importantly an important break to both of them. However, i see that some disagree

Break

Had a nice break over the weekend. It was fun playing volley in different kinds of weather. one day it was cold and windy, the next it was very pleasant. As usual I just loved it! Also, the time spent without thinking about work helps!!

Looks promising

Leo Fortune:
"You may feel closer to taking a big vacation, even if you realize that your budget won't stretch far enough. Meanwhile, you are making steady progress with your plans. Don't slip into the time-consuming trap of believing that you must explain yourself to others. Just keep pushing forward, inch by inch, in the pursuit of your dreams"

Dharavi

Hopefully the means are also as good as the goals identified

Dharavi in mumbai will be re-constructed!

Politics in India

Well, yesterday I was passionately discussing the problems with Indian politics and the public that votes. May be they are changing, may be.
A nice article about Mumbai politicians.

Change is good for life, especially if it is in the perspective of the people who vote!

A dream?

Sometimes some small things move you to tears, of happiness. Very trivial things they are. Most importantly they are not at all relevant to you. Yet, you feel a special feeling for someone who has worked hard (more so if the person is an underdog!). That was exactly my feeling when I was reading this article about Boyd Rankin. A dream, though small, will come true for him.

I will wait for mine!

Nice One

A really nice one by Amit Varma

Hmm

some people get on your nerves so much that you get so angry with them. They manage to do it regularly exactly pulling nerves that pain you the most!!

anyway life moves on!!

Softball

Believe it or not, we made the play-offs in softball. No forfeits either, we won 3 out of the 4 matches and qualified for the play-offs.
Today's game went well. We scored 14 runs, in fact in only 2 innings. The other two innings we managed 0 !! but it was fun. I missed a catch that i should have caught. My batting was ok, was part of 5 runs, so I won't complain

Lets see how the play-offs go!

Cricket article

A really nice article, by P.Sainath

Hmm

My Leo fortune:
"Love can arrive at your door now, yet it may be unrecognizable if you are rigid about what it should look like. Whether it's romance or friendship, don't waste time wishing it to be what it's not. Soak in whatever appreciation or admiration comes your way, but don't get too caught up in yourself. If you do, others will likely become bored with your self-centered attitude and lose interest."

I don't get it

I just don't understand the funda of putting a cake on a person's face. I can tolerate that if it is done in a decent manner. I don't know what it is supposed to mean if someone just digs his hand in a cake and puts it on the person's (b'day person) face. How do you expect the rest of the people to eat that cake!!Well, I just didn't. Not that it matters to anybody. May be I am too old for such stuff.

Anyway, life shall move on.

My Class

Went well. I was able to really talk for an hour. So I was happy!!

My first class

Today would be the first time I would be presenting for about 60 minutes. I am slightly nervous and at the same time eager to do the presentation. Hopefully everything will go well!!

Hmmm

Leo Prediction
"You continue to want to take time off for play, but unfortunately the ambitious Capricorn Moon in your 6th House of Work reminds you how much you have on your plate. You may be frustrated because it feels like your life is out of control, but this won't stop you from making plans for fun. Even if you are being bent out of shape, remember to keep expressing the love that is in your heart. It can make everything else more pleasant."

Finally

after weeks of planning and subsequent postponing i began my running. Today I ran 20 minutes comfortably. Want to somehow increase the time slowly in 5 minute increments to 60 by august. Lets see how far I will get. Also, I would start taking it easy on my workout and reduce the sessions to 1. So from now on 1 day workout and 2 days running.
Thats the way to go I think.

BTW,it feels great to be able to run.

Midnight's Children

Finally, I complete the book. Don't know what to make of it. It was unique but boring at the same time. I wanted to read the book but never more than 40 pages on a trot. Today was the first time I read more pages and the reason was to finish the book. Anyway, it is all right, is all I can manage. There are instances where Rushdie sarcastically talks of Indira Gandhi. I liked the idea and the way it's written.

Now that I am done with that I plan to begin "Mein Kampf". Wanted to read the book for a while. Lets see how it unfolds.

Very nicely said

An nice article on Dravid's precarious position

Writing

He asked me why do we seem to be at the same point whenever you write. He said I see only two reasons:
1) You are dumb and not learning
2) You are not careful.

He thinks it is the latter. I clearly told him. I am dumb. I cant learn, and don't know what more I have to do to learn.

Interesting Horoscope

Deeply rooted fears may come to the surface today, but don't let your worries stop you from having a well-deserved good time. If you have been working hard, then nothing should hold you back now -- especially any negativity left over from a previous hurtful experience. Don't take "no" for an answer, especially if it comes from you.

Public Display of Affection (PDA)

I am not a big fan of PDA. But if people want to do that its their problem. I dont understand the principle of moral policing undertaken by Mumbai Police. It is ridiculous at its best. If a couple hold hands in a public they are fined! What can you say.

What do I blog about?

Many friends ask me why do i write as if I am the only person who has problems in life. I agree. I write as if I am in pain. The only explanation I have is, I feel better after venting my frustration. I am frustrated with the way things are at work. Some times things don't work. The list of things I need to complete is endless. My relation with my adviser has not been great. All these add up. They lead to the negative frame of mind I am in. So naturally I see everything as bad. I, by venting out the frustration on my blog try to behave better when with people (though I know I fail miserably!). I am trying is all I can say.

I use my blog as an alter ego where I can complain about every small thing. If I tell anybody about my complaints, people might think I am crazy (which I do not deny!). I do not write about my happy moments because I remember them and I don't need my blog to feel happy (I know i am being selfish by denying happiness to my blog!!). But by writing about my frustration I am using the blog as a vent!!

It was nice talking to a friend. Even little amounts of time spent that makes you feel a little better. From today I will work on not mixing work and the rest of my life. I am not sure if it will work. Try is all I can do!

Lets see how it pans out.

Nice one

The World Cup a celebration of the Caribbean way of life? About as true as Hitler being a philanthropist.

Well said, especially considering the empty stands.

Interesting twist

Zee starts a new cricket league

More surprising to me was the fact that there are 35 states now in India. I am afraid I am loosing touch with the changes occurring there.

4000

Yes. My viewer count reached 4000. Too much, considering the boring and cribbing stuff I write.

Only the levels vary.

My patience levels are slightly on the lower side. But I do find people who understand my thought process or at least sympathize with it.

With this comfort life moves on.

Pak - afghan issue

Afghanistan' president Karzai points towards Pakistan as a hotbed for terrorism and Taliban growth. Don't know how much of it is true. India points towards Pakistan again for similar problems. Well there are two ways of looking at it:
1) Aghanistan and India are wrong and are criticizing a nation for the wrong purposes.
2) Pakistan is the culprit and hot bed for the growth of terrorism.

Well the answer is obvious!!

Unnecessary

Sometimes I unnecessarily expect a lot from my friends. I become possessive and worry myself with ridiculous thoughts. And within a day or two I realize all the thoughts were wrong and could have been avoided at the first place. I do this time and again. Hopefully someday I will learn and grow up.

Until that day I will have some painful days. Will take a break to night from work and start fresh tomorrow. Will read the book ny salman rusdhie.

Well Said

Some things are hard to change.

For example the impression of cricket being a men's game

A nice articl, by Mukul Kesavan, on how women find it impossible to attain the status of their male counterparts in cricket!!

My priorities

Have they changed? I dont seem to understand. Life seems to move too fast for me to understand. I havent been reading as much as I would like. My adviser feels I underperform!! I dont understand some of the people I work with or am good friends with. I spend a lot of time thinking about what they think and stuff like that!! The thought process is not fruitful.

Anyway, have to get back to coding!!

Whats happenning

Dont know what's happening. Some day's you feel lonely. Today is one of those and it does not help at all if you are like me (a little stupid!).

The code is been giving me lot of pain and when work does not seem to progress it spreads the frustration onto other parts of life and in general everything seems wrong.

Not that it actually is any good. I dont know what I am doing. Have so much work to do that I end up thinking what to do and dreaming what to do!!

Anyway, lets see.
