John McCain

I have read articles where people bemoan the tactics of John McCain's campaign (here, here), be it the Palin candidacy or the confrontations with Obama campaign on trivial issues. But all of them question McCain's giving up his character to win the election. Please guys grow up. Why did a decorated war veteran of his stature join politics? To be called a decorated senator. No, he wanted to become the president of United States. That is why he is in the politics. So, to achieve his individual goals (a concept that is as American as it can get) he is putting everything on the line. Even if he looses he will still be a decorated war veteran. People will forget the campaign in no time. But if he wins he will get what he wants. This is simple politics. I feel its funny that so many bloggers lament over the fact that McCain is employing petty tactics to win.

Anyway, just to clarify, I do not endorse what McCain is doing or for that matter what Obama does. It does not affect my life here (I hope so), so i can afford to be indifferent and yet enjoy the drama!

By that logic, I guess ends justify the means. No wonder politicians continue to disappoint because we expect far less of them.

BTW Obama is the only candidate to have spoken about legal immigration so your fear of 'affecting your life' in case McCain getting elected is justified given his party's position on immigration.
