Many of you would have been aware of the dire condition of many villages submerged by river Kosi in Bihar. I have been reluctant to read anything on this because I felt the situation could have been avoided. This was clear once Indian government and Nepal government started the blame game. It feels ridiculous to know that something should have been done before the monsoon season and it was n't. The strengthening of embankment on river Kosi would have avoided the evacuation of 6.48 lakh people (i am not kidding) and about 2.52 lack people are taking shelter in relief camps. If only the initial steps towards repairing the embankment were taken all these people would not have been so affected. But well this is India. We react never pro-act!
